Editing the Leash out of Photos

Did you know that if the dog is on leash during the photo shoot, I edit the leash out of the photo? I do.

Editing the leash out is part of the post-processing that I do to each photo in Photoshop.

I know a lot of owners think their dog can’t be photographed because he/she has to be on leash. It’s totally fine for them to be on leash. In Mecklenburg County, if we are at a park, they’re supposed to be on leash. It’s the law.

When a client inquires about a photo shoot for his/her dog, I email them a welcome packet. That welcome packet goes over all of this information.

I also mention that the dog’s collar should be clean and look nice because I don’t edit the collar out. Any tags should be removed from the collar too.

I want the final photos to look professional and perfect. Having a clean collar with no tags just helps the photo look more finished.
