Sunsets: Dog Photography Project 52: Week 21

I'm in a 52 week dog photography project and each week we are given a theme to take photos of and this week our theme is sunsets. I've been traveling a lot the past month which is unusual for me. I was in Cape Cod 4 weeks ago and I just got home from Colorado less than 48 hours ago. Just for the record in less than 24 hours, I'll be on the road for 5 hours driving to Charlottesville VA to watch my twin nephews graduate from high school. At least the travel to VA doesn't include changing time zones or having to deal with the altitude. The altitude in Colorado is no joke! Especially at 12,000 feet in Breckenridge. Did I mention we got over 3' (FEET!!) of snow? My Colorado trip will have its own blog post soon but back to sunsets...

Dog Photography Project 52 participant Sandy McCarthy and her dog Bogey at sunset in Cape Cod. Perhaps my most favorite image I've ever taken. I got into photography because of my love for my black lab Buddy. My tagline is "Love Looks Like This." To me that is what this photo is: LOVE. Sandy's love for her dog and Bogey's love for her.

In Breckenridge, we had to deal with the sun setting behind the mountains so our photo sessions were earlier than sunset. When I'm home in Charlotte or as I like to call it, the land of the trees, I haven't found a place to photograph sunsets where I can actually see the sun drop behind the horizon. So, I'm using photos I took in Cape Cod.

In April 2016 I attended Barkelona an out of this world dog photography workshop outisde of Barcelona in Spain. There I met Sandy McCarthy and Joanne Brown. The 3 of us have stayed in touch and Joanne invited Sandy and me to her home on Cape Cod at the end of April.

Sandy brought her Australian Shepherd Bogey and Joanne had her 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs, Chloe and Hailey with her. I don't have a lot of experience photographing sunsets. The light changes so quickly as it drops it was tricky for me but I had a blast trying.

Joanne Brown and either Hailey or Chloe.... I'm not sure which dog this is. :o

I love silhouettes so I guess my theme this week could be sunsets or silhouettes. This next photo was the view as we left the beach our last night. The top photo is my edit. The bottom photo is SOOC (straight out of camera.) The sunsets were truly epic in Cape Cod. Oh what I wouldn't do to live somewhere like this and have the oppoturnity to have this as my backdrop in my photos. Big sigh.

I have been lucky to feed my wanderlust tendancies recently. Anyone else share my love of travel?

In case you've forgotten because I got off track, this is a blog circle, our theme is sunsets and next up is Rochelle from Dark Sapphire Pet Photography, Nelson, New Zealand. Be sure to click the link at the bottom of each post and then you'll end up right back here.
