Newman: Bernese Mountain Dog Photos

From time to time I participate in a photography blog circle. Photographers from around the world join in and blog about a specific topic. Each week we are to take photos about the subject and then write a blog about it. This week the topic is “Photographer’s Choice.” At the end of each post is a link to the next photographer’s blog. Keep reading and you’ll see the link at the bottom of this post.

Since I could blog about absolutely anything, I chose Newman. I know I don’t need to explain why. Just look at how cute he is!

I love these photos for several reasons. I do love bernese mountain dogs. They are such gentle giants so any time I get the opportunity to photograph one, I’m in heaven.

When I get to photograph the same berner 2 years in a row, now that’s really special. This big guy pictured below is Butler. He lives in Greenville SC and his mom contacted me last year to have his photo taken. I will happily travel to photograph dogs. :)

Butler’s mom contacted me again a few months ago to let me know she’d gotten a puppy and his name is Hello Newman. I was so honored and thrilled that she’d contacted me again. It gave me a chance to play… I mean photograph this 9 week old fluff ball and I got to photograph Butler again too.

Greenville is an amazing town. I’d love to spend more time there. For this session, we were in a very small neighborhood park that was just gorgeous. I’m jealous of any local photographers who have this park to use all the time!

Here’s a tip for anyone taking photos of dogs: if you’re doing photos early in the morning, the grass will be wet with dew. Keep the dogs off the grass unless you want their fur to get all wet. Newman took a few rolls in the wet grass. He had a great time in the process too!

This is a blog circle and next up is Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography fetching portraits in Coppell and surrounding communities in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas. Be sure to click the link at the bottom of each post to go to the next photographer’s blog. Happy reading!
