About the Photographer

What’s a Blog Circle?

Throughout the year I will occasionally participate in a blog circle. If you’re not familiar with a blog circle, we are a group of dog photographers from around the world and each week we are given a topic. At the bottom of each blog is a link to the next photographer’s post. Once you complete the “circle” you end up back on my page. There are usually less than 10 photographers who participate each week and if you go through the circle you get to see lots of dog photos and each photographer’s shooting and editing style.

About the Photographer

This week the topic is “About the Photographer” and I feel so lucky because I have loved so many dogs. Last year I hired a photographer to photograph Moose and me. It’s something I want to do again this year. While I prefer to take the photos, I do think it’s important for me to have photos with my dogs. Practice what I preach, right? :)

I’ve lived in Charlotte NC most of my life. I was born in Kansas but moved here when I was 11. My hubby and I have been together for 18 years. We moved to Southern California in 2004 and it was there that I discovered my love of exploring new places.

We have 2 dogs: Moose and Molly. Moose is 11 and Molly is 5. They are both rescued lab / hound-ish types. We did a DNA test on Moose and it came back 100% lab which I’m not buying. He is definitely has some weim, gsp, or some sort of scent hound in him. We think Molly could have some greyhound in her blood but I really don’t know.

Why I Got Into Photography

I got into photography late in life. I bought my first camera because of my love for my black lab Buddy and I wanted to make certain I had decent photos of him. Here’s a blog post I wrote last summer called Why I Got Into Photography. I also have an About page on this site that you can read here.

Looking into 2019

If you’ve looked around my site, you know I love to travel. In 2018, I partnered with Audrey Ricks of Sunsets Unleashed and we started traveling the US and Canada photographing dogs. We are currently working on our 2019 plans which will include stops in Vancouver and San Francisco. Other cities will be announced as well. If you’d like for us to consider your location, email me and let me know! I will be photographing lots of cute dogs in my hometown of Charlotte NC too.

A Final Note

Providing you with photos of your dog that you’ll cherish forever is why I do this. One of my biggest regrets is not having great photos of my first two dogs. I don’t want anyone else to have that same regret. If you have dogs you love but you don’t have photos of them you love, I’d be honored to do this for you. Just get in touch.

Next Up

This is a blog circle and next up is Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography fetching portraits in Coppell and surrounding communities in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex. Be sure to click the link at the bottom of each post and you’ll end up back here when you’ve completed the circle.
