FAVORITE THINGS: Dog Photography 52 Week Project - Week 52

Favorite things is the topic of the dog photography 52 week project in week 52. Favorite things seems really appropriate for the theme since we are wrapping up the year. In 2017, I participated in the 52 week project every week (or at least I think I did. :o) I also posted on Instagram almost every day.

Instagram has something called #2017bestnine. It's a site anyone with an instagram account can go to and type in your instagram name and find out which 9 photos got the most likes in 2017. Here's mine:

As a photographer, I've learned a few things about myself. I rarely take photos that I love. If I do take one I love, eventually I seem to change my mind and find things that I see that I should've done differently. That's not to say I'm not happy with the photos, I think I'm just critical of my own work.

I've taken a stab at choosing some of my favorites from 2017. This is really hard for me to do. Also, I've chosen all of these photos from my Instagram folder. I don't have all of the images I've taken, especially the more recent ones saved to this folder yet so if I haven't saved photos yet in a square crop, they won't be posted.

One thing I did learn from this exercise: I like up close shots.

Here are some favorites of mine from my 2017 travels. Interesting.... more of the landscapes show in these. Not surprising since I feel like I live in the land of the trees!

And finally here are some of my 2017 favorites of my dogs. I still have photos of Willow and Moose that I've not edited. There are a couple of Willow that I've not finished editing yet that would definitely be here if I had. I still have one photo of Moose that is fully edited but I've never posted it publicly. It's my favorite photo of him that I've taken. It's my favorite photo perhaps that I've ever taken. Period. I can't share it. I think if people don't like it as much as I do, it would devalue it to me in some way. I know that it shouldn't but it might and I don't want to take that chance.

For now, that's a wrap on the dog photography 52 week project for 2017. This is a blog circle and next up is Rochelle from Dark Sapphire Pet Photography, Nelson, New Zealand. Click the link to see what she did with our theme favorite things. Happy New Year ya'll.
